Have Arsenal given a sneak peek into Mesut Ozil new shirt number?
In an interview with Mesut Ozil, in which the Germany international spoke about Arsenal first summer signing, Sead Kolasinac, on Arsenal.com, the playmaker was referred to as Arsenal’s number 10.

The 28-year-old has been described as one of the best player in his position in the world more than once, played the number for Real Madrid as well as Germany, and has been looking to wear the same number at Arsenal, currently owned by Jack Wilshere. However, as far as yesterday, he was still number 11.
Ozil wearing the number 10 shirt makes a lot of sense considering it’s usually handed worn by one of the most important first team squad members, or the most creative attacking midfielder, which the German no doubt is for Arsenal.
What’s more, Wilshere is currently unfit after fracturing his fibula while on loan at Bournemouth last season and only has one year left on his contract and there have been no talks of a new contract.
The interview has now been edited to refer to Ozil as ‘our No 11’ but was the original ‘mistake’ a purposely given tip? Were the club hinting at the playmaker’s new shirt number?
