Arsenal defender Nacho Monreal has reportedly become a transfer target for Athletic Bilbao.
Monreal has spent the past four-and-a-half years at the Emirates Stadium, while he played 43 games during the recently concluded season where he emerged as on of the club’s most consistent performer.
However, after the Gunners signed Sead Kolasinac from Schalke 04, he may find himself playing substitute, while Kieran Gibbs and Cohen Bramall are other options for manager Arsene Wenger.
As per Don Balon, Bilbao are ready to make an offer for the 31-year-old as they look to add more depth to their defense ahead of the forthcoming season.
Monreal is well accustomed to the top-tier football back in his homeland, with a total of seven years being spent at Osasuna and Malaga respectively.
His contract with the Gunners still has two years validation, but he may be allowed to leave the North Londoners should Bilbao meet Arsenal’s valuation.
