After the Arsenal winger Theo Walcott was taken ill before the Wolves match and was left out of the squad, the Gunners only managed to draw 1-1 and Van Persie failed to score for a change, but now his biggest assist-partner Walcott will be back alongside him in the Arsenal attack against QPR.
Arsene Wenger said: “Theo is OK and we have no new injuries from the Wolves game.”
There was also talk that Wenger may rest Van Persie at some point over the busy festive period, but the manager made it clear that he would start when he said: “He will play tomorrow, then we will assess the situation with him on Sunday and Monday morning and make a decision.
“I don’t rule it out but he’s one of the players who has played a lot and you see again, against Wolves on Tuesday, he’s the guy who gives absolutely everything in every game at the moment.
“He knows, ‘I have to score’, so he’s always on the fringe of pushing himself. Let’s hope he can get through the next two games.”
A refreshed Walcott will be a tonic for the Gunners and if Arsenal can take a two-goal lead into half-time, Wenger may even be able to give his star striker an earlier rest before the Fulham game in just two days time. Fingers crossed!
