Giroud – Arsenal Are Outsiders

Arsenal’s newest signing Olivier Giroud seems to think that the Gunners will be outsiders in the title chase next season and that the two Manchester clubs are probably the ones to watch if you’re asking yourselves who will win the Premiership.

Giroud seems to be hopeful, but not really fully convinced that Arsenal have a chance at beating the odds, which is weird if we think about the fact that they have a much better team than last year since Podolski and Olivier joined.

“I won’t ever forget that season because in a footballer’s career, winning the title isn’t forgotten so fast.

“There was a good mentality in the team, good quality, with some good players, and I look forward to finding that quality and spirit with Arsenal – that’s why I chose Arsenal.

“With Montpellier, it wasn’t written that we were going to be champions, so that’s what made it more beautiful.

“With Arsenal, we might not be favourites, like the Manchester clubs, to be champions. We’re outsiders, but I’m convinced that we can do something big.

“That’s what we did with Montpellier, and I’m proud with what I accomplished there.”

This is a bit worrying, because Arsenal can’t be called underdogs despite the fact that they haven’t won a trophy in a while. Wenger must do something to get them to understand that they have all the chances to win a trophy. Morale might make the difference this time around if the Frenchman plays his cards right.

Let Wenger fix the defense and winning a title will be possible. The problem of lone striker is solved as well as the midfield. All we need now is a solid defense.

I dont understand why is so difficult for you to comprehend simple english.Giroud didnt mean arsenal is underdog neither did he mean what u are try to insinuate.he said we are not d favourite meaning people will underrate us and he emphasized strongly that he believed we catch them unaware.so dont mis understand his message.

I often like your posts but I think you’re taking what he said a little too far. He didnt just say we are outsiders, he said that we aren’t the favorites to win. And despite the fact that most of us are looking forward to this season to some extent or another, we aren’t favorites to win the title for the critics and books (I do think we have a great chance and that if the team gels that we will
be looking at some silverware). But he isn’t just saying that we are underdogs, he is saying that even though we aren’t the favorites he still thinks that great things can be done with this squad. Of course you would always prefer a player to be extremely optimistic, but sometimes people work harder without the spin, I know I do. I agree that the players need to understand that winning a trophy is a very likely possibility, but they also need to understand that it won’t be easy. If they are told that we should win it then as soon as things start getting rough (which they always do to some degree, well maybe not the invincibles) they may begin to lose heart a bit. Anyways, I’m really excited to see what we can do as a team this coming season and I hope Giroud as well as all the others really have a strong season and leave their mark on the Premier.

I think with the inclusion iof Cazorla, Arsenal can said to be i shape to win silverwares this season. As u guys said, the defence is a bit shaky and Wenger has to make a balance cos the midfield and the attacking line seems to be solid to end the drought of tjhe trophiless seasons.
