Juventus target Arsenal midfielder

The Italian giants Juventus are preparing for a Champions League campaign next season and it has been reported this morning that they are considering a bid for the Arsenal midfielder Alex Song, who has two years left on his contract at the Emirates.

According to the Sun, Juve also have their eye on Chelsea’s Michael Essien if Roman Abramovich goes through with his threat of clearing out the veterans in the Chelsea squad.

They quote a “Juve Source” as saying: “We need to back our plans for a strong European campaign by reinforcing the squad in some key positions — and Essien and Song are under review.”

It has been reported that Song is another one that is refusing to talk about a contract extension at Arsenal, and as the Gunners only have the youngsters Emmanuel Frimpong and Francis Coquelin as cover in the defensive midfield position it is unlikely that Wenger would sanction Song’s departure.

I dont think that selling Song would be a disaster. Frimpong and Coquelin are more than capable of filling in his boots. Also, I believe that selling Song might also free and generate funds for Arsenal to bid for M’villa or Sami Khedira, who can hold the mid-field with Arteta or Wilshere.

Everyone is focusing on RVP and forgetting abt song!!! As for me bihnd RVP there is song as he has made e assists wen the other team players cudnt get the break thru! I’m jus loving his chips damn selling song wuwud be a bad idea!!!! He sacrifices his defensive duties most tyms coz we usually lack that creativity which he creates as a CDM! Song the gunners engine

The best teams hang on to dear life their CDM. Look at how City looked without Y Toure.
Song is one of the best in Europe. He knows our team. This would be like Barca selling one of their home grown at peak age. Very crucial to do all we can to keep Song.
