Paris Saint –Germain’s 18-year-old superstar Kylian Mbappe has revealed that moving to Arsenal this summer was a ‘real option’.

The Parisians acquired Mbappe on a season long loan deal from AS Monaco. The move could turn permanent at the end of the 2017-18 season with the fee expected to rise up to £166 million.

Mbappe arrived at PSG on Wednesday and commenced training with the club ahead of their Ligue 1 face-off with Metz this weekend.

The French youngster who is a self-confessed fan of his hometown club has confirmed that he held talk with Arsene Wenger this summer to discuss the possibility of joining the Gunners.

“Yes, I met with Arsene Wenger, who is a great coach,” he said. “He has a great reputation here in France, he’s well-respected and knows how to develop young players. This was a real option for me.

“But, of course, Paris Saint-Germain was the main option.”

Arsenal were also rumored to be making a move for Mbappe’s Monaco teammate Thomas Lemar. Wenger confirmed that the club was unable to complete a deadline day move for the 21-year-old midfielder.

Mbappe’s transfer to PSG does not sit well with other clubs challenging for the Ligue 1 title. Following the signing of Neymar from Barcelona, PSG’s now boast one of the best front line in world football with Edinson Cavani in the middle and the two new signings on either side of him.
