Arsenal has reportedly informed Manchester United they want to make a move for Anthony Martial if Alexis Sanchez decides on a move to Old Trafford this January.
According to the Daily Star, United are eyeing a move for Sanchez and negotiations seem to be ongoing, with Arsenal looking to sign Martial as a like-for-like replacement.
The France international could be the perfect candidate to fill the void left by Sanchez in Arsenal’s attack, with the 22-year-old having impressed in his time in the Premier League.
Despite not always being a regular starter, Martial’s pace and finishing ability make him a great addition either out wide or up front, and that kind of versatility will no doubt be enticing to Arsene Wenger.
It remains to be seen if Jose Mourinho would give room for such a young promising player to move to a rival given there is little pressure to do so, in contrast to Arsenal’s situation with Sanchez.
The Gunners need to let the Chile international leave this winter if they are to receive any transfer fee for him at all as his contract at the Emirates will run out this summer.
The Daily Star added that Arsenal has reduced their asking price to £30million for Sanchez, while BBC Sport suggested previous suitors Manchester City seem prepared to risk missing out on him due to the north Londoners’ demands.
