Arsene Wenger’s position at Arsenal in under more scrutiny than ever before, however, that hasn’t stopped the Frenchman from plotting seasons ahead, according to Marca.
The Spanish outlet claim that the Gunners boss, who has faced vicious backlash from fans after losses against Chelsea and Bayern Munich resigned the club to a familiar fate once again, is eyeing a move for Malaga youngster Pablo Fornals in order to reinforce his squad ahead of next season.
The 21-year-old, who has reportedly attracted interest from other clubs, has been the subject of ‘very positive’ reports from Arsenal scouts and could be available for between €10-12m thanks to a release clause in his contract at Malaga.
The Spain international, who made his debut under Vicente del Bosque last year, has bagged four goals and two assists in 21 outings for the La Liga side this season, add to that his competence for defensive work and his high work rate, and he could be quite the addition for Wenger.
The plans for summer signings could point to Wenger’s decision over his future, which is expected to be announced in March or April.
