Arsenal are keeping tabs on Torino striker Andrea Belotti although the club have been put off a move for the 23-year-old by his £50 million price, tag according to The Sun.
The report claims Arsene Wenger wanted to bring the Italian to the Emirates this winter but considers him too expensive currently and will wait until the summer before potentially making a move.
Wenger’s decision has also been influenced by return to fitness of Danny Welbeck, who is back in training, and who the Gunners boss has admitted could play some part in Saturday’s FA Cup third round tie against Preston.
“Arsenal have an option for Belotti from Torino, and he is available for 60m Euros,” the tabloid quotes an ‘Italian source’ as saying.
“That is to get him now before any other teams come in for him, but Arsenal will not pay that amount just yet.
“They will wait to see what happens with him this season, and think about moving for him again in the summer.”
Wenger has reportedly been asked to keep informed if any other clubs show an interest in Belotti with Chelsea and Manchester United both believed to be admirers.
Torino are currently eighth in Serie A but only leaders Juventus and Napoli, in third, have scored more goals than Siniša Mihajlović’s side.
Belotti has certainly been one of the stars of the season in Serie A, with 13 goals in 16 league games and three assists to his name and is certainly one to watch.
While Alexis Sanchez has been a huge success in the central role this season and Olivier Giroud has provided some crucial goals this season, the Frenchman turned 30 in September, and a top quality striker would certainly be welcomed at the Emirates.
