Arsenal Banter brings you latest update on Arsenal news from top media sites like Daily Mail, Metro, The Express, The Independent, The Telegraph, SkySports and so on.
Arsenal has reignited their interest in West Bromwich Albion centre-back Jonny Evans, according to a report.
An article in The Times states that the Gunners have commenced a new approach for the coveted defender but face a stiff competition with Manchester City.
Arsene Wenger’s side has struggled defensively this season with their issues obvious for all to see as they were dumped out of the FA Cup on Sunday by Championship club Nottingham Forrest after conceding four goals to the lower team.
It is thought the 30-year-old could be available for a fee of around £25million and Wenger could throw in Mathieu Debuchy as part of the deal.
It is said that Arsenal has an edge over Man City in the race for Evans.
The Gunners are desperately in need of help at the back and Evans could certainly provide the stability that would bring an end to Arsenal’s defensive woes. With Laurent Koscielny out injured, Wenger is lacking in real quality and assuredness, therefore this is a signing the north Londoners need not hesitate to make. As for Evans, he would undoubtedly be quids in if he opted for Manchester over London, but he would also struggle for playing time with John Stones and Nicolas Otamendi ahead of him. At 30-years-old and likely in the twilight of his career, it would be a wise choice to opt for a move to the Emirates.
