Arsenal Banter brings you latest update on Arsenal news from top media sites like Daily Mail, Metro, The Express, The Independent, The Telegraph, SkySports and so on.
Arsenal are set to lose out in their pursuit of their transfer target Ousmane Dembele to Spanish La Liga giants Barcelona as the Catalan club to look to include Gerard Deulofeu in a potential swap deal with Borussia Dortmund, according to Metro.
The Gunners have made Dembele a target this summer after having had three bids rejected for Monaco’s Thomas Lemar, but they are set to see Dembele taken off the market by another as Barcelona look to sign the Frenchman to replace the departed Neymar.
The 20-year-old forward is open to the idea of leaving this summer, with reports that Dortmund have placed a £90m price tag on him.
However,Barcelona are hoping that by making Deulofeu a part of the deal, their valuation will drop considerably.
Barcelona are desperate to find a replacement for Neymar as quickly as possible and Dembele is suited to their style of play.
The youngster is pacey and skillful with the ball at his feet which makes him a threat to opposition’s defense and will certainly be an upgrade on Deulofeu.
Arsenal will need to do something extraordinary to get Dembele to choose the Gunners over Barcelona and will now begin to identify other targets.
Deulofeu was regarded as one of the most talented players in Barcelona youth system but then slid into obscurity and has now returned to Camp Nou, but the club are ready to sacrifice him for the younger Dembele.
