Arsenal Banter brings you latest update on Arsenal news from top media sites like Daily Mail, Metro, The Express, The Independent, The Telegraph, SkySports and so on.
It’s been five years since Cesc Fabregas left Arsenal but many fans of the north London outfit still hold a grudge with the midfielder for moves to both Barcelona and arch-rivals Chelsea.
Fabregas, of course, made his professional debut for the Gunners back in 2003 and Friday marked 13 years to the day since he started in the side’s penalty-shootout victory over Rotherham at Highbury.
The 29-year-old was keen to mark this significant anniversary in his life and uploaded a picture collage consisting of his personal highlights from down the years.
’13 years ago today since my full debut as a professional footballer,11 more to go,’ Fabregas wrote in a message to his followers on Instagram.
Fabregas won the FA Cup and the Community Shield during his eight-year stay in north London but neither trophy was included in the picture – and Gooners were quick to pick up on this.
Many fans took it as an insult, with Fabregas inadvertently drawing attention to the Gunners’ rather empty trophy cabinet in recent times.
The fact of the matter is Fabregas, who also won three major trophies with Spain from 2008 to 2012, enjoyed greater success at both Chelsea and Barca.
However, a large section of Arsenal supporters will never forgive Fabregas for moving across London to Stamford Bridge.
