The Russian giants, Spartak Moscow, and the French oil rich club, Paris Saint-Germain, are rumoured to be interested in signing Theo Walcott during the January transfer window.
The English winger’s future has been up for speculation ever since he refused to sign a contract extension with Arsenal. The former Southampton man is currently in his last year of the contract and was a target for Liverpool during the summer transfer window. Arsene Wenger did manage to keep the England international at the club, but he is yet to pen the new contract.
Contract talks between Walcott and the club have stalled over the wages. Walcott wanted a hike, he wanted his salary to be similar to what other England internationals earn at big clubs. Walcott demanded wages of around £100,000 per week, while Arsenal were ready to offer £75,000 per week. Wenger was not sure Walcott ‘deserves’ the kind of wages he was demanding.
Spartal Moscow are supposedly ready to offer a lucrative contract to Theo Walcott, where he will receive a a significant hike to what he receives now. The Russian club is looking to sign the winger in January. They are trying to compete with Zenit St. Petersburg who have just broke the bank by signing Hulk and Axel Witsel. PSG are always looking to spend money and force their way into Europe’s elite.
But the question is, will Walcott be prepared to leave the English Premier League? In recent times, the Russian Premier League has attracted a lot of big names, with the likes of Samuel Eto, Hulk and Axel Witsel plying their trade in the country. But it seems highly unlikely that Walcott would decide to move to Russia at this point in his career. The French Ligue 1 does not have the competition or prestige that the Premier league has, but Walcott would be bound to pick up some medals.
His first preference is still Arsenal, but if the club doesn’t match his wage expectation, a move to another English club could be on the cards this January. Wenger is unlikely to hold onto him after January if he still remains undecided on the contract extension, and with lot of available options, players who can play wide, in the ranks, Walcott’s wage demands might lead to his exit. Theo could even be determined to play out his contract and move on a free transfer next summer. What do you think Gooners?

I think is time theo walcot wil go Arsenal dnt need greedy players anymore. Wenger must cash on d money on theo nd reinvest it on anoda right back becos sagna wil quit arsenal come next season. Gunners 4ever!
It will be a wise decision to cash in on Walcott and move the club forward. Arsenal really don’t need any sort of distractions now.
If he wont sign the contract that will pay him what he is worth then sell him.
No more ‘BUT I AM SPECIAL’ players thanks, I want to see a TEAM FIGHTING EVERY GAME TO WIN TOGETHER.
If walcott thinks he is special, he is living in a dream world.
In three years he might well be worth 100k a week but right now he just not.
He needs to improve that touch of his! Tapping it past (Or straight into) a defender then sprinting after it is only worth so much.
He cant even cross the ball. Sorry Theo I want to see you do well but you lack the top class quality to earn the absolute highest wages at this moment in time.
If only you could step your skill level up a bit, i’m sure Wenger would turn you into a world class striker.
All the time your bitching about money though you may as well f*ck off.
Isn’t Walcott able to sign a pre-contract deal with a club in January without Arsenal being in the equation.
I thought that boat was missed by Arsenal as soon as this Summer transfer window slammed closed.
I said it before this Summer thay I don’t rate Walcott at all. Even now, with the player being in the shop window, Walcott STILL can’t raise his game and show me why we should pay his wage demands or why a decent club should try to sign him.
I would rather see him go to free up the money spent on his current wages because we have plenty of over for that position. Gervinho was Man Of The Match against Sunderland in Walcott’s position. We know Chamberlain is consistently more contributive to the team plus Jenkinson, an absolute diamond player, can contribute very well from there with his excellent crossing of the ball when Sagna returns.
These players all contribute better to the team and for less wages than Walcott … it’s simple math.
I personally think wenger has already decided he wont be playing with a winger this season instead going for a 4132 formation rather than the 4231 he used last season. that has made walcott and gervinho the back up strikers to podolski and giroud with chamakh also dropping down the pecking order. so walcott is now a sub being offered £75k a week wanting £100k. with arteta coquelin and frimpong contesting the dm role and wilshire diaby cazorla ramsey chamberlain rosicky and arshavin contesting the 3 am roles. it may be that walcott will find it easier getting in the team as a striker than a winger anyway.
