Arsenal Banter brings you latest update on Arsenal news from top media sites like Daily Mail, Metro, The Express, The Independent, The Telegraph, SkySports and so on.
Arsenal are still trying to negotiate a deal for £50m-rated Liverpool target Thomas Lemar despite Monaco insisting the attacker will not be sold this summer, according to a report in the Mirror.
Lemar has developed into one of the hottest prospect in Europe after an impressive season where he bagged 14 goals and provided a further 17 assists which went a long way in helping Monaco seal their title win last season.
The 21-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to the Emirates this summer with The Sun reporting last month that an agreement had almost been reached between the two parties after several offers were turned down.
The Express then claimed that Arsenal were facing stiff competition for Lemar’s signature after Liverpool joined the chase while Barcelona have also been credited with an interest following the sale of Neymar to PSG.
Monaco have continuously emphasized their decision not to sell the player this summer after losing several of their key players this transfer window but that hasn’t stopped Arsenal from bidding for the French international.
The Mirror are citing a report from Sky Sports News that claims the Gunners remain in talks with Monaco and are still hoping they could buy Lemar before the transfer window closes at the end of the month.
Arsene Wenger has confirmed he is still in the market for new players that can improve their squad play ahead of the coming season and a new attacker seems to be among his wish-list amid on-going doubts over the long-term future of a number of players.
