Arsenal Banter brings you latest update on Arsenal news from top media sites like Daily Mail, Metro, The Express, The Independent, The Telegraph, SkySports and so on.
Inter Milan are reportedly planning to offer Marcelo Brozovic to Arsenal, while the Gunners are also linked with a move for Real Madrid youngster Marcos Llorente, who could leave Los Blancos in a bid to get more playing time.
According to Italian TV channel SportItalia (h/t The Sun‘s Gary Stonehouse), Arsenal are the favourites to sign Brozovic, a player who has consistently been linked with a move to the Premier League since he arrived in Italy.
Brozovic first transferred to Inter in a loan deal in January 2015 – the loan from Dinamo Zagreb was later made permanent – and flashed tremendous upside as soon as he appears on the pitch, with several outstanding goals.
The 2015-16 season was arguably the best of Brozovic’s career, as the 24-year-old was deployed to a central role as opposed to out wide.
His high performance made him a top transfer target for several clubs, especially Chelsea. In fact, according to the Daily Mail’s Matt Barlow, Brozovic was on his way to the Stamford Bridge last summer, but nothing of such happened.
Brozovic remains a divisive player, capable of putting together starring displays one week and completely disappearing the next. His lack of consistency has long been an issue and should explain why he’s seemingly once again available.
It is hard to imagine how the Croatia international would fit into the Gunners team. Arsenal is already brimming with midfielders – and in the case of Granit Xhaka and Aaron Ramsey, players who struggle with consistency―and need to spend to improve their defence.
Signing Brozovic could well be another blind transfer move Wenger plans to make.
