Tottenham to hijack TWO of Arsenal’s top targets?

Things are bad enough for Arsenal at the minute as the Gunners look like losing Theo Walcott and Robin van Persie. Reports today, if they are true, could send the average Gooner into manic depression.

Lyon keeper Hugo Lloris and Nottingham Forest defender Jamaal Lascelles are both on the transfer radar of Arsene Wenger, but Tottenham are on the verge of pinching both players.

L’Equipe claims that Lloris has been persuaded to abandon his move to the Emirates in favour of White Hart Lane after Andres Villas-Boas convinced the keeper that his first team opportunities would be much greater with Spurs. I am not sure why this would be as Tottenham already have three keepers on the books, but at 41-years old, Brad Friedel has only a limited time left.

18-year old Jamaal Lascelles is a product of the youth academy at Nottingham Forest. He has impressed at under-18 and under-19 levels for England as well as for Forest’s youth team. He was loaned to Stevenage last year where he again drew praise and big things are expected of the central defender.

Apparently, last January, Arsenal had a sizeable bid for the youngster rejected by Forest. They have since agreed a professional contract with Lascelles but, according to the Mirror, Tottenham have opened negotiations for his transfer.

Hopefully Forest will stay firm like they did last year because I don’t think I could bear to lose another potential player to the Spuds.

My question is where are the spuds getting all this money? They aren’t in the champions league. And why would anyone choose spuds over Arsenal anyway?

Sorry, but I somehow can’t get myself to believe we’re in for Lloris. Are these hacks recycling the same old stories again? When did we last need a world-class keeper? Goes to show how strong we are now, I s’ppose.
And this Lascelles? We’re not exactly looking for defenders now, either…

We might not be looking for defenders but we bloody should be. 49 goals conceeded and that was with our best keeper 2 best centre backs and best DM fit most of the season. If anyone was happy with our defensive displays last season then they really need to study some replays. we were fortunate to get away with 49 you have to remember that 14 of the teams in the league were fighting relegation till march. I have nothing against jenkinson djourou gibbs or santos just think a club like arsenal needs better and dont even talk about squillaci. i would like to see santos moved up the pitch and squillaci de-listed if he cant be sold or released, perhaps his experience would come in handy with the reserves and terry burton make him earn his salary at least. i would also loan out jenkinson for a season then bring in yanga-mbwia and sakho both can play full back and centre back. djourou i am unsure about i like him so perhaps give him a loan as well and also miquel. i would keep bartley this time round as he can also play right back and even dm if he had to.

Not sure who you count as best centre backs? but

Vermaelen – Played 29 matches in the League and many of them right after returning from injuries and then being injured again.
Laurent_Koscielny – 33 matches, only FB who actually played most matches, and he did very well.
Per_Mertesacker – 21 matches, first ever season in PL.
Sagna – 20 matches, after longtime injury
Gibbs – 16 matches, in and out after injury.
Santos – 15 matches, first ever season in PL.
Song – 34 matches, played for most yes, but with new/unknown midfielders, Ramsey had his first season after longterm injury, Arteta first season in the team.

I agree, we need two new defenders, a left back and a CB, but I think we need good midtfielders more as they are not as dominant now as former Arsenal midtfields.

why would lloris go to spurs, if he does he is just as dumb as vertoghen, both class players who could easily be playing for better teams than 5pur2

although lloris has said he wants to go to a team playin champions league football, and his president has said he wants to play for 1 of the top 5 teams in the world, last time i checked the spuds werent even close to top 10
