Arsene Wenger may not have led Arsenal to a trophy for seven long seasons, but he personally has won an award for being the manager of “The best team in the Premier League era” as he coached the brilliant Invincibles who won the title in 2003/04.
As he collected the trophy he acknowledges their excellent record, and believes that his present team has the possibility to emulate his old Arsenal team next season. He said: “I am proud of winning the award and very happy because I told the players at the time they could achieve something special once we were champions by being invincible,”
“They did it, but at the time they did not realise how much it would mean in the future. I am very proud of that.
“My target is to get back to that level. I feel we are not far from coming back to fight for the championship, and let’s hope we can show that next season.”
I don’t know about challenging for the title just yet, but if Wenger sticks with the same defence that conceded an unprecedented 49 goals this season, I doubt very much they could equal 49 unbeaten!

Only if he can again inherit one of the best defences the top English League has ever seen. That’s what Wenger inherited when he joined the club and it carried over into the 2nd great team. Since then … zilch !

With the current squad!! I don’t think so. Arsenal need at least 4 very good quality players in various positions to even come close to The INVINCIBLES.
Correct. Wenger has not believed in mature players – preferring to develop youngsters. He did not understand how crucial Arteta was (ie. an usually mature signing) till he didn’t play !!
Mr Wenger, for you to be invincible again you’ll need a very good set of sorcerers and warriors to do the battle

The Invincibles were able to play with a strong starting 11 for all of the PL matches. The game has changed since then, it is played with more intensity for the whole 90 minutes. A team needs to rotate players or they can’t compete for a full season. You need 16 to 18 true first choice players, covering the midfield and forwards and even the halfbacks possibly with two players for nearly each slot depending on how versatile each is, in order to compete, especially playing an all out attacking game like Arsenal does.
We are 3 to 4 players from that. And they must be Premier League players, fully bedded in the team, not new foreign signings or youth leaguers. Remember, ManU, ManCity and Cheski are going to be better next year.
True dat! And other than wilshire’s return, I do t see anyone coming ?bck from injury as a ‘new signing’. So tired of seeing that. M’vila and vertonghen (if not already a Lillywhite) will help defensively. We could catch a star to replace rosicky long term either over summer or the January window, but with coquelin and m’vila, could song push forward? We may already have our midfield solved. If mayichi and Ox can play more next year, we may already have 5-6 good strikers/wings if we resign Rvp… Believe. IWWT COYG
Actually I think quite the opposite. If we stick with Kozzer and TV5 then we have the foundations of a great partnership. Remember that Mertesacker is new and in his first season and at the beginnng of the season TV5 was injured so there has been no real consistency. Then the full backs were injured too for a couple of months. We’ll be ok next season when things have settled….
Everyone who talks about M’Villa and Vertongen don’t seem to take into account that it’s not our lack of defensive players that’s the issue, it’s a tactical problem.
Our goals are very often caught on the break, not only that but far too easily they just bypass our midfield with no one tackling. Now I read somewhere that in Chapmans time he used to drill our defenders by pitting 4 of them against 8 attackers. He drilled them endlessly to know intuitively where the others would be. Well Vermaelen and Koscielny are top class and forming a very good partnership but too often they’re dragged out of position to cover for our full backs and leave too much space. Sagna is brilliant at getting back but Gibbs and Santos are too often nowhere to be found.
We don’t need M’Villa and Vertongen we have Wilshire and Arteta, we also have coquelin.
Renne play a 4-5-1 most of the time, we play 4-3-3, 4-3-2-1 tactically we play a very different style to Renne and it’s not hard to be a combative midfielder in 5 man midfield because there’s very little space and it’s not hard to cover a position. There is no guarantee that M’Villa is good enough to create solidity in a 3 man midfield. A solidity we already have whenever Song has Wilshere or Arteta to mop up. It’s no coincidence that we’re solid when either of them play and an open book when they don’t.
What we need is a summer of drills. Attack to defence, over and over again and hopefully Bould will be able to throw his input in too.
I’d love to see Benayoun stay and Ramsey be given a loan next season. He’s going backwards in his development and may have Eduardo syndrome.
I think we need a tactical change or at least some kind of plan B.
If only TV5 stops acting like a stricker & #Song stops acting like a playmaker, we’ll have a formidable defense that will prevent other teams from shipping “silly” goals. Yes we can.. #ASNL4LYF!

First the idea of invincibility is not just about keeping our selves from loosing a match but also winning those matches convincingly at best. This is how Wenger can make his dream happen – Podolski comes with loud expectations and lets hope he does not disappoint like one Devor Suker. We need someone in the center and i think the Brazilian Lucas Moura would be quality addition. I know we have moved away from signing them young and full of potential…How about turning Walcott striker next season and sending all the others away so we have RVP, Podolski and Walcott plus Campbell. If we revert to a two man striking role we can give Walcott enough chances to play. I would how ever not mind retaining Park, he may just burst into the scene so maybe a loan arrangement to settle him in the premier league. Move Song to creative Midfield and we have Song, Rosicky, Lucas and Wilshere pushing for the two spots. Ramsey goes on Loan. Get Vertoghen or YMvila and together with Arteta we have two accomplished players vying for the slots there and we have Coquelin, and Frimpong too, get Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa (Montpelier) and get rid of Djourou and Schilachi and you have real competition for the roles in defense. with this arrangement Roy Miyachi, Oxadale Chamberlain, Benik Afobe and the likes get time to grow into the first team. We have Gervinho and we can keep Banayoun just in case. I suspect this will be depth and quality squad ready to challenge for titles next year. Wenger should design a captain system where the will be a defense captain, in charge of ensuring the defense works flawlessly, a midfield captain whose role is transition (defense to attack -attack to defense) and the forward captain in charge of ensuring we maximize the opportunities on attack. Of course the attack captain will be RVP who will also be the overall captain. Wenger should also sign He needs to sign another player who will play every game arsenal will play competitively. He is called the bonus. say 5,000 pound per game up for grabs to be shared out by members the department of the team (defense, midfield or attack, that wins the department of the match honour (Just like being named man of the match). The department that picks more department of the match honours will be declared the department of the season and pick a bonus three times that size with a trophy. Of course such honour is something that Fans can be involved in creating and funding. Finally, Arsene must consider creating a role shift training day every month. At this time in the training groud people shift roles and you will see RVP as goalkeeper, Sczechny is striker pairing with Gibbs, etc. this help the players learn insights about the kind of people they will be up against and what they feel, how they will most probably react and the likes. It will also get the players to appreciate the roles each play in the field.
I think Wenger was not very serious when he said that because as a manager, he should know that,this team is not good enough. With the present team, we shall not make the third position next season because I predict Chelsea and Spurs will come on stronger. It is possible to make another set of invincibles but we must have at least two first class players in each position to accommodate injuries and suspensions. That will require buying at least five more players which I doubt Wenger will accomplish. He has already told us he might not need another center back. That shows you the way he will go. Thinking about invincibles again will be a wishful one as long as Wenger is in charge because he will not spend to bring in the players.

Hope the era of Mr Wenger is on the verge of falling…let alone new signings and thinking about invincibles the person has lost what and when to do things even in the match day!!…this is true!…it is enough to see what was happend in the last match aginst WBA…Have you noticed how Wenger was acting …he was diving in to thesholder of Mr Pat Rice…it was realy Shame!…whay he is suffering like this! Thx to Gibb’s Tackel…we left alive…but we are affraid of our Boss…As Wenger stays ,even with more new players at hand, personally i have no belief to win trophies…the upcoming season will be still for Man city/Man Uni/Chealsea…no more arsenal shinning along with Wenger!!!
