Wenger Urged To Sign 5 Players In the Summer Transfer Window

Arsenal have been advised to consider signing five top quality players to be strong contenders for the EPL next season.

This advice is coming from Manchester United outgoing defender, Rio Ferdinand. Ferdinand took to twitter after Arsenal’s victory over Hull City last Saturday at Wembley when the Gunners came from two goals down to lift the FA Cup after nine years without a trophy.

“If Arsenal invest now (like they need to) this could be the start of a good period for them. Need to add quality that inspires individuals NOW,” the former England international tweeted.

The Daily Star also reported that Ferdinand thought signing a striker, a right-back, a left winger, a goal keeper, and a centre back will make Arsenal a super team next season.

According to several press reports, Arsenal are already making some behind the scene moves to secure some marquee signings to strengthen the team against next season. The Daily Telegraph reports that Wenger has been handed a £100 Million transfer war chest to strengthen his team this summer, and a list of possible targets have already been identified by the manager.

Wenger, by the way is expected to put pen to paper on a new deal this week to keep him out of the hands of Monaco, PSG and other clubs interested in signing him. The 64 year old Frenchman won his 5th FA Cup title last Saturday at Wembley, and this has further strengthened his resolve to stay.

Wenger is expected to sign a world-class striker, and players like Mario Mandzukic and Diego Costa have been linked with a move to the Emirates. Aside from signing a world-class centre forward, the club is also being linked with a move for Ivory Coast international right back, Serge Aurier as a possible replacement or backup for Bacary Sagna who could be on his way out of the Emirates this summer.

Another player expected to be on his way out of the club this summer is Lukasz Fabianski whose contract also expires this June. Nothing much is expected on the transfer front for Arsenal before the World Cup at least.
