Arsenal’s manager Arsene Wenger has spoken about the reasons for bringing Giroud to the club, and according to the Frenchman he wanted the Montpellier striker for his aerial abilities and his strength. The question which arises now is whether Giroud will prove to be the missing piece of the puzzle in Arsenal’s team, or just another Chamakh or Bendtner.
“I bought him because he’s a real centre-forward and he is an intelligent player,” he told Arsenal.com
“He is a player who developed late and I feel he can integrate in the way we play football and add something to the way we play because he is good in the air.”
“He has a good strong body and I feel he has qualities that are needed in our squad. Hopefully he can show that.”
Giroud has had a couple of amazing seasons in France playing for Montpellier, so you would think that he is coming into the squad with an amazing morale and an even better form after being named the league’s top scorer last season. On the other hand, Gervinho also joined after winning the French league, and we must be honest and admit that he didn’t really impress in his first season at Arsenal, be it a poor one overall.
What do you think will be the impact of the strong, French striker at the club? Will he manage to bring the form he had in France to the Premiership?

Time will tell
I remember another striker who was a late developer. His name was Ian Wright……
it would have been great if robin stay and 442 applied. With Giroud and van attaking while walkot, podo, wilsher and song @ midfield
