Just about every Arsenal fan is now aware that Jack Wilshere has had a setback to his return to the Gunners squad, and Arsene Wenger tried hard to play down the impact in his pre-game media conference.
He said: “He has had a little setback that is under investigation at the moment so I cannot give you how long he will be out for. At the moment he is seeing a specialist and as soon as we know more we will communicate.
“It sets him back a little bit but for how long I don’t know. It is the same foot but a different problem to the injury he had surgery on back in September. But is it an inflammation? We have to wait a little bit.”
But now Wilshere himself has confirmed the rumours, and also admitted that he had been given no idea as to how much longer he will be on the treatment table.
Wilshere said on his Twitter account: “It is true I have had a set back. I can’t tell you how long I have been set back because I don’t know! I am very annoyed but will stay strong.”
We can only hope (like Wenger) that it is only a “minor” setback, but given Arsenal’s record of extending injuries long past their sell-by-date, I won’t be holding my breath for any good news in the near future.

when Arsene says “little setback” you’ve to interpret it as a leg lost! Such is the honesty of this man!
With jack and diaby out for the season or so it seems we are in dire need of some attacking midfield. for me we should recall lansbury and buy hazard. that would need us delisting 2 foreigners diaby and squillaci fit the bill nicely to be delisted. however we would then need another cb so i would also recall bartley. finally i think its a must that we bring in a versatile player like vertonghen. again it would mean delisting another foreigner. i would sell fabianski and recall mannone as a no.2. if just if there was a chance of signing a striker i would offer park or chamakh or both to schalke or cologne for huntelaar or podolski prefeably both.
This has echoes of the Vermaelen injury. I honestly don’t think that we’ll see Jack back at all this season. The bas news is Ramsey is out of form and tired and Gervinho will be out of sorts when he returns. Terrible situation to be in.
Some arsenal fans are so funny that they think transfer market is like supermarket. When results are not favourable you got to be patient. Mark my word arsenal team is stronger than man united team. It’s only man city and spurs that have strönger team than arsenal. Judge wenger at the end of the season not now. Get behind the team and support them than needless criticism. The manager has his own mistake but how many time liverpool manager face the kind of abuse wenger is beeing subjected.
