Man City to challenge Arsenal for young Russian star

Russian young midfielder Alan Dzagoev became a primary target for English Premier League teams after showing tremendous skill and form in the Russian League playing for CSKA Moscow. Manchester City are already considering a bid, while Arsenal also has a close eye on the improving youngster, according to the Metro.

At 21-years-old Dzagoev has already caught the eye of many top league teams, and he is expected to make the move away from Russia in the January transfer market. He joined CSKA in 2008 and since then he has gathered 126 appearances, 32 goals and 35 assists, becoming one of the most important players in the team.

The move to Arsenal could be facilitated by the fact that winger Andrey Arshavin is already at the Emirates and the two are also friends and colleagues in the Russian national squad. The Arsenal man stating in the summer that Dzagoev is “the most talented young footballer in Russia”.

A move directly to Manchester City might not be such a good idea given the world class players that are already sidelined at the club. Dzagoev needs to transfer at a team where he will be able to play on a regular basis. Perhaps choosing Arsenal as the next step in his career will be a great idea, given Arsenal’s policy regarding young players.
