German side Schlake 04 are rumoured to be looking to make a switch with Arsenal for Russian winger Andrey Arshavin. According to Talksport the Germans are willing to let their Peruvian striker Jefferson Farfan go as an exchange currency for the Russian.
Arshavin, currently 30-years-old has been playing for Arsenal since 2009 when he joined them from Russian side Zenit Saint Petersburg. Although he has been of great use for Wenger’s team, the winger has never really managed to play at the rate he did at his former club.
Farfan though, is 3 years younger than the Russian and in his 3 seasons at Schalke he managed to gather a whooping number of 119 appearances, scoring 30 goals in the meantime. The two players are really not much different. Farfan is a bit faster and has crosses of higher quality, but Arshavin is more prone to score due to the very good runs he manages to make off the ball.
Arshavin will almost surely transfer away from the club in the January market opening due to the fact that he has been moved on the sidelines after Ivorian striker Gervinho was brought to the club. The switch doesn’t seem a bad one for any of the two teams, and if Wenger will be given this opportunity I think he’ll take it. Don’t you?
