Squillaci set for Russia move in January

It was rumoured a while ago that the rich Russian side Anzhi Makhachkala were keen to take the Arsenal duo of Andrei Arshavin and Sebastien Squillaci to Dagestan in January, and it seems that they are still intending to go for the French defender.

Arshavin made it clear that he would only move back to his original club Zenit St. Petersburg if he moved back to Russia, therefore ruling out FC Anzhi, but admitted that he wasn’t happy being a permanent benchwarmer.

But Squillaci, who has never settled in at Arsenal and can’t seem to handle the pace of the Premiership, is certain to leave Arsenal in January if Wenger can find a buyer, especially now that Thomas Vermaelen has fully recovered from his long term injury.

Wenger turned down a loan request from West Ham in the anticipation of a permanent move for Squillaci, so perhaps he already knew that FC Anzhi were preparing to make a bid?
