It has been revealed this morning that Arsenal are monitoring the contract negotiations between Chelsea and Salomon Kalou, and are aiming to make a cheeky £3m bid for a player with just six months left on his contract.
According to the Mail, Arsenal have already approached Chelsea with the offer knowing that he could leave for free in the summer if an agreement cannot be reached between the two parties.
Arsene Wenger has always admired the Chelsea super-sub and his goals to games ratio in the Premier League has always been impressive, but he has never found a regular starting spot at Stamford Bridge.
Kalou, along with Didier Drogba, is out of contract in the summer, and although the Ivorian has always been loyal to the Blues, Roman Abramovich is unwilling to reward that loyalty with a pay rise in this economic climate.
Wenger admitted that he had made an enquiry about Kalou in the past, and with a back-up goalscorer desperately needed at Arsenal it looks like Kalou will be welcome to come to the Emirates at a knock-down price
