There is little surprise that there are many Arsenal transfer rumours being mooted today despite Wenger saying that he wouldn’t be buying anyone. Many Arsenal fans are hoping that the two successive defeats to mediocre teams (and Man Utd coming up) will force Wenger into another “panic-buying” spree before the window closes.
The latest rumour says that Arsenal are going to try and tempt Lille into selling Eden Hazard by offering them £25m PLUS their choice of peripheral players from the squad.
Caughtoffside reckons that Marouane Chamakh, Andrei Arshavin and Sebastien Squillaci would all be put on the table as part of the deal, but the Gunners would also be prepared to discuss releasing others if Lille showed an interest.
The French Champions know very well that Hazard is set to leave in the summer anyway, and they could take the decision to let him leave now to try and rebuild the side quickly to try and close the seven point gap at the top of Ligue 1.
I personally would be very surprised if Lille would let him go in January, and would the ambitious Hazard even be interested in going to a club that hasn’t won a trophy for seven years when seriously ambitious clubs like Real Madrid and Chelsea are also keen on signing him?
