According to today’s newspapers Premiership duo Liverpool and Arsenal are going to fight each other for the signature of two of the most impressive players in Serie A, Mehdi Benatia and Mauricio Isla.
The two Udinese stars came to life this season and after they’ve been intensely scouted by the two Premiership sides they’re likely to leave the club in the summer. Both wanted for their defensive abilities, Isla and Benatia are a couple who could surely adapt to any club in the Premiership and either of them would be a huge addition to both Arsenal and Liverpool.
Udinese’s president Giampaolo Pozzo has admitted that the rumours are true and that the couple are likely to leave the Serie A in the summer by saying: “At the end of the season we will see what happens, but it is certainly true that several clubs have asked about these players,”
Isla is the most wanted by both Dalglish and Wenger, but the Liverpool manager is likely to win out the battle as Wenger is much more interested in enhancing his team’s attacking abilities with a midfielder or two and a couple of skilled strikers.
