The latest on Theo Walcott has come out after recent reports have spread across the internet.
Yesterday it was reported by the times that Theo Walcott had rejected a new contract. The news was quickly taken up by various other media outlets, including most newspapers as well as the BBC and SkySports.
It’s believed that Arsenal offered Walcott a new 5 year contract on £70,000 per week. Walcott reportedly wants £100,000 per week and he isn’t willing to negotiate down his asking wages at the current moment. Walcott’s agent and Arsenal have been talking about a new contract all summer, with the Englishman now in his last year of his current contract but Arsenal are not willing to offer Walcott the £100,000 per week that he wants.
Now it’s being reported that Wenger, Arsenal officials, Walcott’s representatives and Walcott himself held a meeting today to see if an outcome to the situation could be made. The talks were positive but no contract was signing, with talks currently on-going. But apparently Wenger has said Walcott will not be sold as he is still confident of the winger of signing a new deal, either before the end of the transfer window or during the 2012 / 2013 season.
Walcott also reportedly doesn’t want to leave Arsenal, according to some sources he loves it at Arsenal, however he isn’t willing to lower his wage demands.
I would be deeply disappointed if we lost Walcott, as I believe he is the player we will miss the most out of him, Robin Van Persie and Alex Song. He may be inconsistent at the moment and the fans opinion may be divided on Walcott however I think in the near future he will be a great player who uses his pace to the maximum to terrorise opposition’s defence.
Arsenal’s latest offer is a 5 year deal on £75,000 per week. Chelsea, Manchester City and Liverpool are all interested in the Englishman.
