Well it seems the honeymoon is over. Arsenal supporters will be dreading to hear that in form Diaby has been ruled out of France’s match tomorrow. The midfielder who had a match winning performance in his country’s opening World Cup qualifier against Finland has sustained a muscular problem.
The player had made a stellar return to form for Arsenal this season, fighting back into the team after battling with injury. The news will dampen the mood around Arsenal as the player looked to be eager to continue his run of performances for both club and country. Abou Diaby is not the strongest player and has been dubbed as having a ‘fragile body’ which has halted his playing time over his career. Given an injury free chance, the player excels on the pitch, displaying his abilities in recent games for France and Arsenal.
Dider Deschamps has released a statement stating, ‘ Diaby took a bad shot and he has muscular discomfort. He is not free in his movement.’ The manager has ruled the Arsenal player out of Tuesday’s qualifier against Belarus. The 26 year old has had a torrid time, plagued with injury since his career threatening injury almost 7 years ago. The manager did not state for how long Diaby would be out for but muscular pain can be anything from a day to a month, depending on the severity.
At this stage, Arsenal will be hoping that the injury is only minor and that Deschamps is only leaving Diaby out as a precautionary measure. All Arsenal supporters will be hoping for a speedy recovery by the French international and in time to start in the Gunners next match against Southampton.
