Athletico Madrid, Dortmund Want Arsenal’s Lukas Podolski

He might be injured but that hasn’t stopped top clubs from eying him. According to reports, La Liga outfit Atletico Madrid and Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund are keen on Arsenal forward Lukas Podolski. The German international has been played on the wings since his arrival at Arsenal and has been overtly critical of it. The former Cologne forward revealed that he was uncomfortable on the wings and would rather play as a central forward but that seems a tall dream because French striker Olivier Giroud seems Wenger’s preferred choice.

The calibre of teams interested in him are good and could make Wenger consider a sale. It could be beneficial if we sell him to Dortmund as we could afford to use him as a bait to get a bigger target Marco Reus or Robert Lewandowski in the winter or summer window. Marco Reus could be that versatile attacker we have been looking for since he could play as a central striker, behind the striker and on the wings. Lewandowski will be a good buy as he is a little upgrade to Giroud. I can imagine what his partnership with Giroud will deliver.

Athletico Madrid will also be a good team to do business with. They also have one of our striking targets, their current hotshot Diego Costa. We could use Podolski as a bait to land the Brazilan. Diego Costa is another versatile forward that will be a good fit at Arsenal.

It is not as though I want Podolski to leave but him leaving Arsenal will be beneficial to both parties provided Wenger will bring in a better replacement. Podolski wants to play as a centre forward but that is currently a tough proposition. If a move away from Arsenal will make him fulfilled then Wenger should let him go but he should remember to bring in a more suitable replacement.
