Time To Wake Cazorla & Walcott And Jack Up, Ozil And Ramsey Can’t Last The Season

Arsenal might be coasting clear in the Premier League but not all of the top players have hit top gear just yet. Arsenal are like a ferrari with dual engine but running on just one. No matter how well it is doing on that one, it can do much better because it has the capacity to achieve that if the other engine can come alive.

In the 14 weeks already gone in the Premier League, Arsenal’s top performers have been Ramsey, Ozil and Giroud while the top performers last season were Walcott, Wilshere and Cazorla. Two of last season’s heroic trio are still yet to come alive no thanks to injuries. Cazorla suffered ankle injury that ruled him out of action for 2 months while Walcott’s abdominal injury sidelined him for almost 3 months. Both players are back but struggling with form. Walcott has only scored a goal and contributed 2 assists this season and that’s a far-cry from last season when he had 20 goals and 16 assists for the Gunners. Ditto for Cazorla who also has just a goal and an assist so far this season. Yet again, it is a distance from his total haul in his first season (just last season) when he had 12 goals and 13 assists.

For now, Arsenal can still make do with their ‘poor’ form because the magical trio of Ramsey, Ozil and Giroud are pulling their weight but for how long will they last before fatigue catches up with them and they get tired? Then, we would need the sleeping giants to wake up from their slumber and continue from where the early starters stopped.

Wenger needs to help them sort out their form as early possible. This he can do by giving them more game time. Walcott and Cazorla should be getting at least 60 minutes regularly so that they could ger get their form back.

The fact that Cazorla, Walcott and Wilshere are struggling and Arsenal are still doing very well gives credence to the fact that Arsenal now have increased depth and are less predictable. Last season they had Cazorla, Walcott and Wilshere, mark the trio out and Arsenal were caged but this season, mark them out at your own peril. A very good reason why Arsenal stand a great chance of winning the Premier League title this season.
