Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is planning a double raid on Spanish giants Real Madrid. The Gunners’ Boss has targeted two of Los Blancos stars, one a legend the other a promising youngster. According to reports, Wenger is keen on striker Alvaro Morata and keeper Iker Casillas. Both players have been on the Spanish giant’s fringes for the better part of the season and a change of scenery seems a possibility.
While one is adjudged a necessity, the other is just a luxury. Certainly, Arsenal need a back-up for current striker Olivier Giroud and with chances of getting a marquee striker looking slim and remote, the Gunners might just have to settle for one that is promising and not a household name. Morata might not be in the class of Suarez but he seems better Bendtner and Park. Morata would certainly be open to joining another team either on loan or permanently so as to get more regular first team chances.
As for Casillas, Arsenal are also said to be interested but I believe a more for him is more of a luxury than necessity. The Gunners’ have Szczesny who has don’t so well this season and recently signed a new deal. If Casillas is willing to leave Real, it will be for assured regular football, how will he take competition from Szczesny? Arsenal need to be careful how they handle the Pole as they could loose a long term option to satisfy a short one.
On the positive note, he would inspire and motivate Szczesny but we must be careful so that the harmony in the dressing room is not threatened in anyway.
