The Telegraph is reporting that Arsenal’s midfield triumvirate of Jack Wilshere, Mikel Arteta and Alex Oxlade Chamberlain will all be in contention for starting berths against Liverpool at Anfield.
This will probably come as a good news as Arsenal’s midfield had borne a depleted look of late, thanks to injuries and suspensions and this comes just in time before Arsenal are set to take on a gruelling set of fixtures.
Jack Wilshere has been absent from the squad since the FA Cup match against Coventry City after picking up an ankle injury but is due back in training this week, meaning he should be available against Liverpool. Wilshere has been in fine form this season and will need to continue if Arsenal are to build on their early title credentials. His absence was sorely felt in the match against Southampton and his return will be a massive boost going to Anfield on Saturday.
There were fears about Arteta and Oxlade Chamberlain after both picked up knocks against Crystal Palace but those fears have been assuaged with the news that it was just tiredness and both should be fit to start against Liverpool should they be asked to.
Arteta is one of two defensive midfielders in the Arsenal squad and with Flamini suspended for the next few games, Arteta’s fitness and availability will be of paramount importance. Oxlade Chamberlain on the other hand hasn’t featured much this season but his performance in the last match has relieved the fans who were worried about Ramsey’s absence. If he can sustain such a performance, the absence of others might not be such an issue. He is also very versatile and offers the manager lots of options and the manager will need as many as he can get to continue Arsenal’s winning run.
Arsenal currently lead the table by two points and will be hoping to maintain it or even extend it come matchday.
