The Metro ( who are quoting the Guardian as their source ) are reporting that in a spectacular turn of events, Arsenal will pursue the striker that left fans and coaching staff bewildered and repulsed with his relentless pursuit of a move to a rival.
Robin van Persie has reportedly told his friends that he will look to move in a summer after his dream move which was supposed to decorate his career with trophies turned sour. Manchester United have been in free fall even since the great Sir Alex Ferguson retired and this doesn’t sit too well with van Persie who has seen his former club turn around their fortunes to contend for the title.
Van Persie’s future has been the subject of much speculation after rumoured breakdown in communication with the coaching staff at United and his increasing displeasure at being commandeered by David Moyes who he thinks is inept. Van Persie also stated his displeasure at team mates after United failed to overcome a poorly Olympiakos side.
Clearly the Dutch striker is not enjoying his time at United as things haven’t gone according to plan and some outlets in the media have used this to link him with a move back to Arsenal. Arsenal fans are unlikely to be very forgiving given the circumstances he left in and neither is the manager.
Alex Ferguson in his autobiography has written that Arsene Wenger was seething with rage in the manner the player had conducted himself. Wenger won’t be too keen on getting back with a player who betrayed him and his team mates.
Arsenal are enjoying a good run of form which has seen them involved in a title race and the team spirit has been splendid. The Arsenal hierarchy probably don’t want to disturb that by indulging in an ageing striker with a disruptive presence to boost their chances of short term success when they have plenty of alternatives who can do that.
