At Last Arsenal Midfielder Returns After Lengthy Injury Layoff

No Arsenal midfielder has spent more time on the sideline than French international midfielder, Abou Diaby; but it seems his layoff due to injury is finally over.

Arsenal fans have almost forgotten they had a player like Diaby on the team’s pay role until news started filtering in that he was set for a return. Recently, the manager had said he hoped he can have a good surprise for us regarding the return of the lanky midfielder.

The player, who has only played a handful of matches (20) for the Gunners in 3 seasons, has been with the club for 9 years now. Diaby, who is one of the most talented midfielders in the Arsenal team, can only hope that he gets it right this time around as he is set to return for and FA Cup semi final clash with Wigan.

The boss recently said the player would be back in training this week, which represents good news for an Arsenal team badly in need of some fresh legs. The boss, who likens Diaby to a new signing, may not risk the player for this weekend’s all-important EPL match against Everton; but if all goes according to plan, should include him in his team’s FA Cup clash against Wigan next week Saturday at Wembley.

Abou Diaby, who is one of the best box to box midfielders in the EPL, joined Arsenal in 2006 from AJ Auxerre of France. He has an amazing ability to slip through killer passes, and dribble pass opponents with ease. His game against Liverpool was one of the best I had seen him play; and the injury he sustained while on international duty for France where he scored the only goal is what has kept him out for over one year.

With the delightful displays of players like Aaron Ramsey, Jack Wilshere, Mesut Ozil, and Mikel Arteta in the Arsenal midfield; the manager is spoilt for choice with a fully fit Diaby in the team. A fully fit Diaby brings a lot to a team that is in badly need of some physical presence in the midfield.
