Arsenal Receive Blow In Striker Chase

Madrid president Florentino Perez has ruled out the possibility of selling any of his star players this summer. Perez was speaking on the backdrop of various media speculations linking two of his key players (Morata and Benzema) with a move to Arsenal this summer.

“I am friends with the all the presidents and they all call me when they want a player – but if they called me at this time, I would tell them nobody is for sale – but in football you never know, last year we sold Ozil when nobody expected it – football is like that,” Perez said in an interview.

For those who are very familiar with the Madrid president, his recent claim that no player will be leaving the club should only be taken with a pinch of salt. The Madrid chief further revealed in the interview that he won’t stand in the way of a player like Morata as long as such contracts included a deal to bring the 21 year old back to the Bernabeu in the future.

On Iker Casillas, Perez had this to say:

“I do not think the final in Lisbon was his last match as a Real player.”

Casillas was linked with a move to Arsenal a few months back, with Santi Cazorla revealing to the press how he tried to talk him into making a move to the EPL.

Like I said earlier, I won’t lose sleep over such comment as Perez has a history when it comes to transfer of players out of Madrid. As he rightly said, no one knew a player like Ozil was going to live the Bernabeu on the final day of the transfer window. So I guess it is a case of ‘never say never’ when it comes to Florentino Perez.

One of the players being linked with a summer move to Arsenal is French forward Karim Benzema who only has a year left on his current contract with Madrid. The player has been on Wenger’s lists for some seasons now, and the Arsenal boss could finally get his man once the transfer window opens in a few weeks’ time.
