Arsenal “Held Transfer Talks” Morgan Schneiderlin

Following the reports that came out on Monday that Spurs were closing in on the signing of Morgan Schneiderlin, a new report has emerged from France that Arsenal actually held talks with the former Strasbourg player. The 24 year old has been linked to Arsenal all summer, but he seem to be inching to a transfer to the other of Seven Sisters Road, when the Southampton hierarchy asserted that no further player would be leaving, but that is a development that could be subject to change.

The French football site, Get French Football, went to town with the report that there have been talks between the agent of Morgan Schneiderlin and Arsenal.

What is clear is that Arsenal is interested in Morgan Schneiderlin and has held tentative talks with the Saints midfielder. The report also asserts that Arsene Wenger met with him at the just concluded World Cup in Brazil after the player had privately expressed his desire to leave to St. Mary’s

Spurs coming into the picture was something of a surprise in many ways, as Arsenal were thought to be his number one destination, but the swing in the tail, looks like the new Spurs Manager Mauricio Pochettino who the French man is eager to play for. But there is a feeling that if Arsene Wenger truly sees Morgan Schneiderlin as his plan A, he could still pull off this transfer despite Spurs coming into the picture, and the current stands of Southampton.

Which begs the question of who is Arsene Wenger’s plan A for the holding midfielder position?

The players that have been linked to Arsenal in that position are still the current four that have been linked all summer, Lars Bender of Bayer Leverkusen, Sami Khedira of Real Madrid and William Carvalho of Sporting Lisbon plus the Saints midfielder.

Going by the transfer activity that have revolved around Sami Khedira and William Carvalho even if news involving the latter has gone quiet, it means Arsene Wenger sees either of these players as his plan A for the position of holding midfield.

Although, this claim is based on assumption premised on how the media circus have circled around both players. But, another angle is that, going by how a bid was slipped through for William Carvalho without a prior knowledge to anybody, it means, Arsene Wenger can yet go for a player that is not known to many.

Despite all the present shenanigans surrounding the Morgan Schneiderlin transfer, there is some time left in the transfer window for something to happen though relating to this.
