According to reports, Leicester City have joined Liverpool in the race to sign Arsenal winger, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. The Foxes who had a stellar 2015/2016 Premier League season by winning the title are now looking for additions to their squad in preparation for next season.
Leicester have now qualifed for Europe and will be involved in more football games next season. They will be playing in the Champions League and trying to defend their title at the same.
This has caused Claudio Ranieri to set his sets on Oxlade-Chamberlain to help bolster his squad. Ranieri, according to The Express, is keen on adding the Englishman to his team and the situation of things at Arsenal may just favour the move.
Chamberlain seems to be set for a move away from the Emirates this summer as he has struggled to be part of Arsene Wenger’s plans in recent times. And with the approach of fresh recruits, he may fall well behind on the pecking order if he doesn’t make a move.
With Leicester beckoning, the 22-year old may see a move to the Foxes as a chance to get more playing time and spend less time on the bench.
Interestingly Arsenal themselves have been linked with the signing of Riyad Mahrez from Leicester City and if they are bringing Chamberlain who can play in all the position Mahrez can play in, could it then mean Arsenal will be allowed to sign Mahrez? Let’s not forget the fact that Claudio Ranieri had in March confirmed he will not stand in the ways of any of his players that want to leave the club this summer.
