According to the Express, Premier League sides, Liverpool and Leicester City, are set to go head to head in the race to secure the services of Arsenal winger Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. Champions Leicester City are keen on signing the player as they see him as one who will strengthen their squad in preparation for their first season in the Champions League. The report also claim Arsenal will sign Riyad Mahrez from Leicester City and let Chamberlain join the foxes.
Chamberlain’s career has in a way been stuck at the Emirates with the England international having several injuries and battling for form when fit. Now, Arsene Wenger now open to the idea of selling the 22-year-old off this summer. It is assumed that the winger still wants to remain at the Emirates but should the Gunners receive a good offer for him, he would have no choice but to honour the club’s decision to sell him.
Liverpool are also keen on the midfielder as Jurgen Klopp is a fan of the 22 year old but it remains to be seen if Wenger would sell the player to a long term rival.
Arsenal have been linked with names like Riyad Mahrez and Saido Mane as Wenger is looking to improve his squad and should the French man pull off any of those signings, Chamberlain would most likely leave.
Chamberlain is still held in high esteem in England despite scoring just 7 league goals in over 100 league appearances since joining Arsenal in 2011.
