With the report of the purported signing of Leicester’s Jamie Vardy yet to die down, it has also been rumoured that Arsenal are interested in the signing of Leicester’s Algerian Riyad Mahrez who was awarded with the PFA Player of the Year by his colleagues last season.
According to the Sun, Mahrez is Arsene Wenger’s perfect winger as the likes of Aaron Ramsey and Joel Campbell cannot be compared with the Mahrez when given the chance in the position . Mahrez is not only a proven goal scorer but also an assist king as he provided most of the assists for goal king Jamie Vardy last season .
Though no mention of any fee has been made, Wenger is said to be preparing a bid which would tempt the Midland club to sell their prized assets this summer. The possibility of the signing is highly unlikely even though Mahrez was signed for as little as £400,000 in the winter of 2014 from French Ligue 2 side Le Havre which
also produced the likes of West Ham’s Dmitri Payet, Juventus’ Paul Pogba and Marseille’s Lassana Diarra.
