If reports from the French media ( which are often quite spot on ) are to be believed, Arsenal are just a matter of days away to announce the signing of N’Golo Kante from Leicester City. According to the reports, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has personally been speaking with the player in an attempt to convince him to move to the Emirates.
Although PSG are also said to be in the running for the signature of Kante, it is reported that Arsenal have won the race due to the influence of Wenger. The Gunners will reportedly pay 35 million which is 15 million more than is reported release clause.
Although the reports were initially not believed, newer reports are claiming Leicester City are also on the verge of signing Nampalys Mendy from French ligue one side Nice as replacement for Kante. Nampalys Mendy just like Kante is a box to box midfielder and he is well rated in France.
It is believed that Leicester will allow Arsenal announce the signing of Kante once the deal to bring in Nampalys Mendy to the Liberty stadium is fully finalised. Should the reports be true and Kante becomes a Gunner, it will be interesting to see which of the current Arsenal midfielders will leave. As it is almost impossible to see Wenger bring in Kante unless he feels someone will leave. My guess is Aaron Ramsey will leave.
