With Jamie Vardy trying to use Arsenal as a bargaining tool to earn a better contract with Leicester City after he made it clear both clubs have to wait for him to return from the Euro’s before deciding on either moving to North London or staying back in the Midlands.
This is coming after Arsenal met his release clause of £20 million and expected him to finalise and sign the new deal last weekend. What this means is that Arsenal have to step up their gear for their Plan B which might be Olympique Lyon’s 25-year-old Alexandre Lacazette who has been more than impressive in the French Ligue 1 for two seasons now.
The move for 25-year-old might even be better then that of Vardy who is already 29 and only had a breakthrough season last campaign. The only advantage Vardy might have over Lacazette is the fact that he is English and knows the Premier League too well having played there for two seasons .
Lacazette was a target of Tottenham earlier in the season before he rejected the chance to join the North London club based on the fact that he saw Harry Kane as indispensable in the team and even younger than he is. It is known that it would nearly be impossible for Argentine manager Mauricio Porchettino to bench Kane for the French man after the Arsenal childhood fan become the highest goalscorer in the Premier League last season. Another factor is that Kane is a graduate of the Tottenham academy and is seen as a local boy in White Hart Lane.
Lacazette has made it known is feels uncomfortable sometimes in Lyon which has made him want to play for a big European team next season. The French man will be a perfect fit for Arsene Wenger and would compete with an inconsistent Oliver Giroud who is seen as a player that cannot be relied on.
