Mario Gotze has been once again linked with a Premiership club this summer. According to the reports, Gotze is a target of Arsene Wenger who sees the World Cup winner as the missing jigsaw in his attacking midfield.
Gotze is the scorer of the lone goal which won Germany the World Cup in 2014 in the final against Lionel Messi’s Argentina . Gotze has been uncomfortable at Munich for some time after failing to nail down a regular starting place in Pep Guardiola’s team.
At 24, it is difficult to remember that the player is still young and has many years ahead of him due to the high standards he has set for himself since his days in Borussia Dortmund under Jurgen Klopp. Rumours of Gotze’s departure has been vehemently denied by Bayern Munich’s CEO, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge who claims the news is a fabrication by the press to sell papers.
Gotze had allegedly told his national team coach Joachim Low his intention to switch clubs this summer which was supported by the German national team coach at the time. Things took a new turn when Gotze appeared to have a change of heart proclaiming that will remain in Bayern and fight for his place under new coach Carlo Ancelotti
next season. The player also called it quits with his agent although he is yet to confirm the reason for that.
Though he has been linked with Liverpool due to the fact his former coach Jurgen Klopp is their coach, Arsenal are also keen to sign him with the deal probably going to fall through as Bayern value him as much as £35 million which is unlikely to be met by Arsenal for a player who has a year to run on his contract.
