Premier League champions Leicester City are searching for a central midfielder just in case France international N’Golo Kante depart and have identified the Nice midfielder Nampalys Mendy as a target
The Foxes have been tracking Mendy for over a year and see him as the ideal replacement for ‘hot cake” French star N’Golo Kante. Leicester Manager Claudio Ranieri is close to sealing the £12million signing of Nice midfielder Nampalys Mendy.
According to Mirror Sport, last month Leicester moved for the 23-year-old holding midfielder, the man they wanted to sign innitially before landing N’Golo Kante last summer.
Kante is also on the radar of a number of top clubs, including Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain, and Leicester have wasted no time in setting their sights on Nice man Mendy as potential replacement.
Mendy impressed last season at Ligue 1 club Nice, helping them seal an Europa League football next season. With just a year left on his Nice contract, Mendy is keen on a move to the Premier League.
With a potential replacement already in place for Kante, this comes as good news to Arsenal fans as this could signal Leicester City’s intenction to sell the player. The ball is now in Arsenal’s court
