According to French publication Le10 Sport, London club Arsenal has prepared a bid for Napoli full-back Elseid Hysaj. Arsenal has been heavily linked with the 22-year-old defender for the last couple of weeks but it was only suggested that Arsene Wenger was only weighing up a bid.
Arsene Wenger has now acted on his interest and reportedly submitted a £14.8 million for the young right-back, according to Le10 Sport. This latest report is coming just week after his represntative suggested that a move to Arsenal did not represent a step up from where he already was.
The player’s agent Mario Guiffredi was quoted via Inside Futbol saying: “I consider this [Arsenal] to be like Napoli, not better. Napoli has become one of the most important clubs in Europe.”
It seems Arsenal, who finished second on the English Premier League table last season, are unmoved by comments from the players agent. Fans are hoping that Arsenal’s reported interest in the Albanian international is not an indication as to where fan favourite Hector Bellerin’s future lies.
Aside Bellerin, who this signing will create healthy competition to, there are other quality options in that role, with Carl Jenkinson, Calum Chambers and Mathieu. This proposed transfer could signal the end of Mathieu Debuchy, who spent the second half of last season on loan with Bordeaux.
