With doubts hanging on the head of Kieran Gibbs and Nacho Monreal already 30+, it is not a surprise that Arsenal have been linked with a move for various left backs and according to reports from Italy, Arsenal are extremely close to signing Napoli and Albania international defender Elseid Hysaj.
The 22-year-old was one of Albania’s best players at the European Championship before their ouster and it is not a surprise that he has been linked with Arsenal. He is well rated in the Italian League and with Gibbs likely to leave, should Arsenal manage to sign Elseid Hysaj, he will be a good competition and cover for Monreal.
Arsenal were said to have opened talks with Napoli for the player’s signature but the rumours died down as soon as the European Championship commenced but with Albania out, Le10sport claims Arsenal have restarted discussion for the player and as a matter of fact, they are succeeding this time.
The player is said to be available for €19m while Arsenal in their usual version have said to table a bid of €15m for the player which is just €4m short of his valuation. Napoli will however not let him go easily even if Arsenal meets the €19m valuation of the player. The player’s agent himself had hinted recently that Arsenal may have little to no chance of signing the left back;
‘I consider Arsenal to be on the same level as Napoli, certainly not better. Napoli have become one of the most important clubs in Europe,’ Giuffredi told Italian radio station Radio CRC.
‘He has to remain at Napoli for at least another year, as the Champions League enables you to become a complete player.
