Arsenal will be announcing the signing of their second major summer signing in a couple of days if reports this evening in the English media is anything to go by. According to reports, Bolton Wanderers have accepted Arsenal’s bid for their centre back Rob Holding and the player will now be signing for Arsenal.
Rob Holding has in the last four weeks been linked with a move to Arsenal. This is after Arsenal reportedly had a bid of £750,000 rejected for the player last summer. With Per Mertsacker ageing, it appears Wenger is very interested in ensuring the German’s long term replacement is brought into the club to learn from the German before he leaves Arsenal at the end of his contract in the summer of 2017.
Rob Holding was one of Bolton’s best players last season. Despite the wanderers finding themselves getting relegated, Holding churned out quality performance week in week out. And it is not a surprise he has been linked with a move to Tottenham, Liverpool and West Ham aside the interest from Arsenal.
Should he pass his medical, he will be expected to undergo pre-season with Arsenal and should he impress, it will not be a surprise if he ousts Gabriel Paulista and Mertesacker from the first team.
