Arsenal are on the verge of completing their second major summer transfer signing if you believe reports this week in various English media. According to the reports, Arsenal have got a bid accepted by Bolton and will in a matter of days be completing the signing of Rob Holding who has also been linked with a move to Tottenham in recent weeks.
Tottenham were said to have moved ahead of Arsenal in the race for the player but it seems Arsenal have now hijacked the hijacker and should the player be successful in his medical, which will reportedly take place this week, he will officially be announced as an Arsenal player before Friday.
His signing could well mean Arsenal won’t be signing any other centre back this summer which isn’t too bad. What we need is someone who will act as competition for Gabriel Paulista and I personally believe Rob Holding can do it. Let’s also not forget that we still have Calum Chambers in the squad. It will be interesting to see who partners Koscienly in the centre of Arsenal’s defense next season. For sure, if Gabriel doesn’t up his game, he will find himself warming the bench next season.
With Holding signed, Arsenal should forget signing another centre back and instead concentrate on bringing in a striker and or a wing forward. With Welbeck out till November and Walcott increasingly annoying, the signing of a striker and a prolific wing forward is simply a must.
