German media today suggests the Gunners could be close to signing their second summer target, with the Gunners closing in on Wolfsburg and German international Julian Draxler.
Arsenal will have to battle Premier league rivals Manchester United for his signature, as new Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has been busy in the transfer market this summer after replacing Louis van Gaal’s last month. Mourinho is also believed to be interested in another Arsenal target Armenian international Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
According to report, German side Borussia Dortmund are reluctnant to sell Mkhitaryan, Daily mail claim that Arsenal have now turned their attention to Julian Draxler will have to prepare a bid worth £45m. The German side has reportedly made it clear they want to keep hold of Draxler, but may be forced to sell; if Draxler makes it clear he wants to leave the club.
Draxler scored 9 goals and provided 8 assists in his 35 games for Wolfsburg last season, and is part of the German squad at the on-going European championship in France, where he’s started in two out of their three group games en route to the last 16.
The permutation is should Manchester United eventually sign Mkhitaryan, they wouldn’t need Draxler as well, which means the Gunner can get him. German tabloid suggests Arsenal are the most likely club to sign the former Schalke 04 player if Manchester United gets Mkhitaryan.
