Reports emanating from the German media today are claiming Arsenal have made formal contact with Wolfsburg over the possibility of the Gunners signing Ricardo Rodriguez this summer. Earlier reports had claimed Arsenal are interested in signing the player who has a release clause put at 19 million. And if the new reports are true, it means Arsenal surely are looking to bring the Switzerland start to the Emirates this summer.
Arsenal have however been given a 7-day ultimatum if they really still want to sign the Swiss international as his release clause will not be effective from July 1.
With Kieran Gibbs looking like he will leave Arsenal this summer, signing Rodriguez will make a lot of sense, but having in their usual fashion left things so late, Arsenal now face an overwhelming battle against time to get the deal done. The player was also linked with a move to Arsenal last summer which is probably an indication that Wenger is keen on bringing him to the Emirates stadium.
The highly rated left-back is widely expected to face the leave Wolfsburg this summer. He has also been linked with a move to Real Madrid but it appears Madrid are more interested in signing David Alba from Bayern Munich instead.
