According to various reports, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has held discussions with the representative of French striker Alexandre Lacazette, who is one of Europe’s highly-rated goal scorers.
Having suffered Jamie Vardy setback, the Gunners have continued in their search for a new striker. Signature of a new striker is considered crucial this summer by the Arsenal manager.
Lacazette among other strikers has been heavily linked with Arsenal previously, but the player last summer pledged his immediate future to the Ligue 1 side. Having been unable to force his way into the France squad for the Euros, he might well be inclined to think a bigger club would provide him with a better opportunity for the 2018 World Cup.
Lacazette, 25, bagged 23 goals for Lyon last season, and does fit into Wengers requirement. He is French, would command be relatively good price in this current crazy market, and could well be the kind of player who can settle quickly in the Premier league.
The telegraph is reporting that Wenger has met with the striker’s representatives to discuss a deal to sign the striker.
Lyon are reportedly demanding a minimum of £45 million for the goal poacher, after receiving an enquiry from Spanish side Athletico Madrid and a shock bid from West ham.
